Fees & Pricing Information
Atlas Psychology is a private-pay practice. We publish our fees so you can plan with confidence, and we're glad to answer questions before you book. We don't bill insurance directly, and we provide superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
Our Approach to Fees
-
Every provider's rates are on this page and on their bio, so you know the cost before your first call.
-
You'll receive a written Good Faith Estimate before care begins, and your evaluation fee won't change once we've started.
-
Every evaluation at Atlas is comprehensive, whatever fee you pay. A reduced fee never means fewer tests, less time or a shorter report.
-
Because we're private pay, your diagnosis and records stay between you and us unless you choose to submit a superbill to your insurer.
-
Reduced fees are based on household income and size, not on who happens to ask, so the scale works the same way for everyone.
-
A comprehensive evaluation takes 20 to 25 hours of a licensed psychologist's time: interviews, testing, scoring, talking with schools or other providers when helpful, writing a detailed report and walking you through it in a feedback session. Our fees also cover current, gold-standard test materials, ongoing training, licensure and liability coverage, secure HIPAA-compliant records, and a schedule unhurried enough to give each person real attention.
-
You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.
Cost is one of the biggest reasons people put off care, and fees in mental health can feel hard to pin down. We'd rather be clear with you from the start. Here is what we commit to:

How We Determine Our Standard Rates
Our standard rates are set thoughtfully and fairly. They reflect the real cost of doing this work well and are in line with what experienced and licensed mental health providers charge in Boulder County as well as nationally.
We offer an objective sliding scale because we believe good care should reach more than the people who can pay full price. Clients who pay our standard fee help make reduced fees possible for others.
For context, recent surveys put self-pay sessions with a psychologist at about $150 to $250 (Headway, 2026) and comprehensive evaluations at $2,500 to $5,000 or more (Grow Therapy, 2026).
If cost is a concern, please tell us. Conversations about fees are confidential and always welcome, and asking will never change how we care for you.
Financial Assessment Questions
For some of our clients who are looking for help yet also experiencing financial hardship, we like to use an assessment based on the Anti-Oppression Resource & Training Alliance (AORTA) framework to help identify which pricing tier reflects one’s current circumstances.
This self-assessment honors both your financial reality and your role in supporting community access.
Please answer for yourself the following questions, honestly. Each "yes" answer would represent access to financial stability or privilege:
Are you or your family homeowners or landowners?
Have you attended private educational institutions or earned an advanced degree?
Can you comfortably make minimum payments on regular bills and credit cards?
Have you been able to easily access and afford health insurance for yourself and family?
Do you have little to no debt and/or disposable income for non-essentials?
Do you have a financial safety net of stable or wealthy family and friends?
Do you hold U.S. citizenship?
Does your income support only yourself, rather than extended family or dependents?
Have you inherited money or property, or do you expect to?
Have you attended or could you have afforded college and/or graduate school?
Pricing Tiers Based on Your Responses
If you answered “yes” to 7+ questions, you likely can afford our Standard Rates (i.e., Redistribution Rate)
You have moderate to significant financial stability and access to resources
Your investment at this rate helps to indirectly subsidize services for others in need
This rate covers the true cost of services
If you answered “yes” to 4-6 questions, you likely can afford our Reduced Rate (i.e., Sustaining Rate) - up to a 20% reduction from Standard Rates
You have some financial stability but face economic constraints
This reduced rate makes services more accessible while supporting sustainability
If you answered “yes” to 1-3 questions, you likely can afford our Community Rate (i.e., Solidarity Rate) - up to a 40% reduction from Standard Rates
You face significant financial challenges or economic marginalization
This rate ensures services remain accessible despite financial barriers
If you answered “yes” to 0 questions, you may be able to afford our Community Care Rate (i.e., Solidarity Rate) - up to a 60% reduction from Standard Rates
You experience substantial economic hardship or systemic marginalization
This deeply reduced rate removes many financial barriers to healing
After completing this self-assessment, please feel free to contact us to discuss your pricing tier and schedule your initial consultation. Please note that while we want to extend this model to our prospective clients, not all of our providers will have availability for reduced fee clients - we tend to have openings that fluctuate throughout the year, so please send us a note and we can start with a conversation with you! Also note: we approach these conversations with complete confidentiality and without judgment, and our goal is simply to ensure you receive the care you need in a way that works for your circumstances.
All financial discussions remain strictly confidential and are handled with care and respect.
Questions about fees? We're happy to talk them through.
