  • Psychological testing typically focuses on emotional, behavioral, and personality functioning, helping to clarify diagnoses like depression, anxiety, ADHD, or trauma-related conditions.

Neuropsychological testing goes deeper to assess brain-behavior relationships, examining cognitive functions like memory, attention, processing speed, and executive functioning.

Both may be part of a comprehensive evaluation depending on your presenting concerns and referral questions.

  • We conduct psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for individuals from early childhood (ages 2-3) through early adulthood and into the early 60s.

We do not provide evaluations for dementia or mild cognitive impairment in older adult populations, as these require specialized geriatric neuropsychological expertise.

  • We evaluate a wide range of conditions outlined in the DSM-5-TR, including:

    • Neurodevelopmental Conditions

    • Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

    • Autism Spectrum Disorder

    • Specific Learning Disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc.)

    • Schizophrenia Spectrum and Other Psychosis Related Disorders

    • Bipolar Disorders

    • Depressive Disorders

    • We are also happy to provide assessment services for co-occurring conditions, differential diagnostic evaluations, and consultation services.

  • Our comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations are priced up to $3,400, with actual costs adjusted based on the scope and complexity of your specific evaluation needs. We like to work backward from this top rate to ensure you receive the appropriate level of assessment without unnecessary testing. We'll discuss pricing transparency during your intake consultation.

Your investment in a psychological assessment includes:

    • Roughly 20-25 hours of dedicated work on your evaluation from top to bottom

    • All testing materials and administration

    • Record review and analysis

    • Interactive feedback sessions

    • Customized and actionable recommendations for your next-steps

Ready to get started? Click here to contact Atlas Psychology.

  • Comprehensive testing uses a broader "rule-out" approach, systematically exploring multiple diagnostic possibilities to fully understand your cognitive, emotional, and behavioral profile.

Abbreviated testing takes a more focused "rule-in" approach, targeting specific diagnostic questions with a streamlined battery.

We'll recommend the appropriate approach based on your referral concerns, history, and goals for the evaluation.

  • Trauma-informed assessment is a philosophical approach that recognizes how past and present trauma may impact testing performance, behavior during evaluation, and interpretation of results. We create a safe, collaborative testing environment, explain each step of the process, honor your pace and comfort, and interpret findings through a lens that considers the neurobiological and psychological effects of trauma rather than pathologizing trauma responses.

  • We view psychological testing as an inherently therapeutic process, not just a diagnostic procedure.

This means we prioritize the relationship, provide ongoing support and validation throughout the evaluation, offer psychoeducation during feedback sessions, and collaboratively develop actionable recommendations that empower you.

The goal is not only accurate diagnosis but also meaningful insight that supports your healing and growth.

  • Yes. We provide specialized psychological evaluations tailored to high-performing individuals, including athletes, to assess cognitive strengths, attentional patterns, emotional regulation, stress responses, and performance-related psychological factors. These evaluations help optimize mental performance, identify potential barriers, and inform targeted interventions for peak functioning.

We utilize the best available psychological tests, interview protocols, and analysis techniques from the broader scientific literature base to make meaningful, data-driven insights designed to highlight your unique psychological strengths, abilities, attributes, and characteristics.

By approaching your psychological performance from the foundation of overall psychological health, we are able to highlight your strengths, ‘catch’ potential problems, and apply clinical science as you pursue difficult and meaningful pursuits in life.

Based on high quality, relevant data and information, we can then construct mental skills training plans that are both evidence-based and likely to actually work for you.

  • Following your evaluation, we schedule a comprehensive feedback session where we review results in detail, discuss diagnostic impressions, answer your questions, and collaboratively develop personalized recommendations for treatment, accommodations, and next steps.

You'll receive a detailed written report that can be shared (with your consent) with schools, healthcare providers, or other professionals involved in your care.

  • Many insurance plans do cover psychological and neuropsychological testing when deemed medically necessary. However, Atlas Psychology does not contract directly with insurance companies.

We operate as an out-of-network provider and provide superbills (detailed receipts) that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Many of our clients highly value total privacy and confidentiality, and working with a private practice that conducts comprehensive evaluations allows you to make your own informed decision about whether—and to what extent—you want to share sensitive diagnostic information with anyone, including your insurance provider.

We recommend contacting your insurance provider before scheduling to verify your out-of-network benefits for psychological testing.

Reimbursement rates vary significantly by plan, and you'll be responsible for paying our fee at the time of service.

Understanding Psychological Testing

What are Psychological Assessments?

Psychological assessments, also referred to as evaluations, are an intensive service provided by licensed psychologists to determine the presence of a psychological condition or phenomenon, such as a mental health disorder or to identify psychological strengths and traits, such as gifted/talented status. Psychological testing is a valuable tool designed to help you better understand yourself and guide your path forward. During the assessment process:

  • Psychologists use standardized tests and assessment tools to observe and measure behavior

  • Results inform accurate diagnosis and guide personalized treatment recommendations

  • Testing provides objective data to complement clinical observations

  • The process helps identify both challenges and strengths

Its common to have lots of questions about psychological assessments, and at Atlas we believe in empowering our clients with knowledge about the process so they can truly make an informed decision. We are happy to provide additional information about:

  • The role and purpose of psychological diagnoses

  • Different types of standardized testing

  • How test results are used in treatment planning

  • Current best practices in psychological assessment

What are some of the Benefits of a Psychological Assessment?

A psychological assessment fundamentally helps to address a question you may have about your mental health.

An assessment can help gain clarity about the potential presence of a psychological disorder; it can identify psychological strengths and weaknesses; it can inform ‘next-steps’ to take, therapeutically, from an evidence-based standpoint; and, the process of undergoing an evaluation can be healing in and of itself!

Certain diagnoses require a psychological assessment to ensure an accurate diagnosis. If you have (or if you suspect you may have) Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, a learning disorder, or another mental health condition that may negatively impact your performance in school or at work, an assessment can provide valuable recommendations to help you succeed.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), both educational and workplace environments are legally obligated to provide reasonable accommodations. For example, a student diagnosed with ADHD confirmed through a psychological assessment may be granted additional time for tests or the option to take exams in a quiet, private setting to enhance focus.

Professional Standards & Resources

Since a psychological condition requires formal testing and a report, providers at Atlas follow a variety of evidence-based guidelines recognized around the globe.

Our assessment practices follow rigorous professional standards established by leading organizations in the field:

  • Assessment of psychological disorders listed in the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual, 5th ed., text-revised (DSM-V-TR)

  • Assessment of psychological conditions listed in the International Classification of Diseases, 11th ed. (ICD-11)

  • The American Educational Research Association (AERA), American Psychological Association (APA), and National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) jointly publish The Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing, which represents the gold standard for testing practices in the United States and internationally.

  • The British Psychological Society's Psychological Testing Centre (PTC) provides comprehensive guidelines for ethical and effective psychological testing.
