Meet Kate Volatile, MA, LPC
Kate Volatile is a trauma-informed, evidence-based clinician who works with clients across the lifespan. She brings a strong background in supporting children, adolescents, and families, and is especially passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s high-pressure moments with confidence, clarity, and joy. Kate has earned a masters degree in Sport and Performance Psychology from the University of Denver, and has since become a Licensed Professional Counselor with specialty interests of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mental skills training, polyvagal theory and practice, as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A former Division I athlete herself, Kate understands the mental and emotional demands that come with high performance—both in sport and in life. This lived experience deeply informs her work with student-athletes, college athletes, coaches, Junior Olympians, and Olympic hopefuls. She offers not only clinical expertise but also a grounded, empathetic presence for those striving in competitive environments.
Kate’s clinical specialties include body image concerns, return-to-sport after injury, and concussion recovery. She integrates performance psychology techniques—such as visualization, self-acceptance practices, and burnout prevention strategies—to help clients clarify their goals and move toward them with intention and resilience.
In addition to individual therapy, Kate enjoys partnering with leaders, teams, and organizations. She provides consultation and group support focused on team dynamics, leadership development, mental wellness, and performance sustainability in high-stakes settings. Whether one-on-one or with a group, Kate brings curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for each client’s experience.
Kate is committed to continuous learning and staying current with emerging research and best practices in mental health. Her style is compassionate, strengths-based, and attuned to the whole person—supporting clients as they heal from trauma, reconnect with themselves, and thrive both personally and in performance-based roles.

Kate has advanced training in EMDR, Polyvagal Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), sand tray therapy, and experiential modalities. She collaborates closely with other professionals when needed and is skilled in safety planning and crisis intervention—always upholding the highest ethical and clinical standards.
