Eating Recovery Group Therapy for Ages 16–21

Beginning September 4th, 2025 –

Every Other Thursday, 5–6 PM (In-Person)

Recovering from an eating disorder or disordered eating patterns can feel overwhelming and isolating. Group therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to connect with others who understand your struggles. It’s a place to share experiences, learn new coping tools, and feel supported in a way that individual therapy alone can’t always provide.

Research shows that group therapy can improve recovery success rates because:

  • Connection reduces shame and isolation – Hearing people share personal, relatable experiences can lessen the belief that you’re alone in this battle.

  • Peers provide motivation – Witnessing others’ progress can encourage hope and perseverance.

Skill-building happens in real time – You can learn, practice, and get feedback on new coping strategies in a supportive setting.

Why Group Therapy for Eating Disorder Recovery?

Our Approach: CBT & DBT Skills for Recovery

This group blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help members:

  • Challenge unhelpful thoughts and beliefs about food, body image, and self-worth (CBT).

  • Build distress tolerance and emotional regulation skills for moments of high anxiety or triggers (DBT).

  • Improve mindfulness and self-awareness to break the cycle of disordered eating patterns.

Strengthen interpersonal effectiveness for healthier communication with peers, family, and support networks.

Each session includes discussion, interactive activities, and practical tools you can apply immediately in everyday life.

I am a Master of Social Work (MSW) with five years of experience working with teens and young adults navigating eating disorders and related concerns. My professional training includes evidence-based interventions for eating disorder treatment and recovery.

As someone with an ADHD diagnosis who has personally experienced disordered eating as part of my ADHD symptoms, I bring both professional expertise and lived understanding to my work.
